Houses
Our house system is designed to promote comradery, conscientiousness, cooperation, and competition throughout school. Upon enrollment in Veritas, students are assigned to one of the twelve houses with which they stay during their years at Veritas. The houses are composed of individual students from each grade level with the oldest designated as the house leader. Each house is represented by a Latin name and shield designed with elements that represent their house culture, motto, and mascot. The culmination of quarterly house events ends in our Ludi Feroces field day competition each Spring.
Ludi Feroces
Ludi Feroces (Fierce Games) is our annual school-wide field day consisting of competitions, entertainment, and a four-course meal. Students compete in their designated houses in a myriad of games, from "pig wrestling" to "castle assault." The team with the most points is crowned the tournament victor. Each member of that house receives a shirt commemorating their success to wear at later school events. In the midst of munching on bread and cheese, grapes and strawberries, rice and chicken drumsticks, and a graham cracker castle, students perform songs, dances, or scenes from a play with their class grades. The day is a beloved Veritas tradition and adds to our school's unique culture and community.
